 Band Biography

James Ray Eldreth “aka” Von is the Lead Singer and Bass player of the Legendary band Dead Reign (in 1992). While there greatest Run was in 2004, they originated in 1992 with Fellow Members, Ed Cerda (Lead Guitar), Joe Melton (singer in 1992), Ronnie Salas (drummer). Von Eldreth  (bass player, and back-up vocals  in 1992) Went on to become their Lead Singer Singer, around 1992, when after an extensive search for a new lead singer ran Dry. for the 1st year with Von singing, his attentions were to only sing until they were able to find a singer that could do all that Von hoped for for their band. However after many auditions and many “I don’t Thinks So’s” he went on to take the band to aspiring height after Special Ed Cerda decided to drop the bands stringed instruments down a whole step, allowing Von to have more mobility with his vocals in regards to moving up and Down the scale around what ever root note was caring the songs.  A Strike of Genius on Their Lead Guitarist’s part, as with the new range came many more songs, many of which where considered hits by anyone whom heard them.

Later a Fabulous Drummer Tony “TNT” Brown, came into play Drums, as his heavy double base and highly intricate tome and rhythm work, that was superb all on it’s own, the band went on to write even more fantastic hits. Soon after that Ronnie Salas came back to join the Group, this time as base player, (bringing along his Lead Guitarist Dollar Bill Staha from the band Atrocious) freeing Von from whatever restraints playing a fiery mean and fast bass and singing at the same time could bring, Von went on to take his vocals to a whole other Level.

With the NEW cast of Band Members including now known as  Angel Von Eldreth as Lead Singer, “Special ED” Cerda as Lead & Rhythm Guitar 1, “Dollar Bill” Staha as Lead & Rhythm Guitar 2, Ronnie “the Ripper”  Salas on bass, and Tony “TNT” Brown playing Drums, the Group went on to Create and Host the “Houston Metal Fest” after Auditioning over a 180 bands via Battle of the Bands over a 3 month period at Richie’s Events in Houston. They Headlined the 420 Fest at the Engine Rm, and then went on to create  HOUSTON METAL TV!  They hosted, played and ran a Stage at the Youth Awareness Festival  in Rosenberg, TX, they where invited to do a sound track for a movie project, and they were even asked, by a huge Texas Rapper Group, to do a Project similar to “Run DMC &  Steve Tyler’s Video”! They passed on it , but did go on to do many other great events and shows.

The band did suffer a break up, and statements were being thrown thrown around in the industry like “Dead Reign is DEAD” and the “Reign is OVER”! However their followers kept visiting their website that was still up, many of which were to their music Download pages,  but even more went tot their upcoming show’s page. Even after 2 years of the band breaking up!.

Von Eldreth, went on to do other things, all the while he stated “Oh, No “DEAD REIGN DEFINITELY LIVES, and will NEVER DIE, as long as the 3 whom where liken to the roots of a Tree to the Band, ED Cerda, Tony Brown, and of  course I, Von Eldreth still lives! as long as the roots are alive the tree will stand and maybe even create shade again!”

Von Eldreth can be spotted on occasion singing at a local Rock Joint called Acadia in Northern Houston Area, where they host an Open MIC night, he will jump on stage grabbing whomever out of the crowed he can, to play the instruments, where he asks them to just make up anything they want, keeping it  leaning towards heavy rock or Metal, while trying to stay in time and key with the rest of the guys on stage, and then he will just make up songs on the fly! He calls it “Shooting from the Hip”!  Surprising lee 95% of the Time, the songs come out Fantastic, and the Crowd goes wild! Even the seasoned musicians, whom were extremely hesitant at first (as most Musicians wont go on stage without having rehearsed the songs they plan to play on stage 50 or more times, for fear of embarrassment) have even said wow, that was Great, I had no idea, you could JAM like that!

To this Day Von will  smile and say DEAD REIGN WILL RISE to REIGN AGAIN!  Somehow I believe him, and wish him LUCK on reviving the DEAD!

GOD PRAISE AND ROCK ON BABY!

Peace – Over N‘ Out,
